dear coffee

"Everyone should make time for coffee." -My Life in Ruins

Side note: "Kaffe" is Swedish word for coffee - similar to Greek word "Kefi" meaning, "passion, or spirit")They did a play on words in this movie. I obviously appreciated.

Our relationship is losing steam, so to speak. Forgive me for asking, but why have you forsaken me this week? I simply do not know what I did. Did I use too much sweetener, demeaning your natural, roasted flavor? Did I use half and half cream instead of skim milk, altering your fat content too close to swimsuit season? Did I make you too hot? Too strong?

Are you mad because I neglected to shovel you into the filter one morning this week and brewed a highly decaffeinated and very weak cup of hot water? Are you mad because I'm poor and have not been investing in Starbucks as much?

I'm sorry. But there's no reason for you to turn on me and splash all over my favorite shirt this morning. How inappropriate of you to jump out of my travel mug in such a catastrophic way. You're playing dirty.

You may have been trying to conceal your contempt for me, but your actions this morning spilled the coffee beans of your true feelings toward me. This hurts, especially when I've told you time and time again, I will never leave nor forsake you. I've been working on confronting those in my life who have wronged me - if I can't mend this relationship, how am I ever going to bond with another human with you again?

I will remain forever yours, every morning at 6:30 a.m.

Sincerely,

Brett

P.S. I'm having an affair with a cup of "Constant Comment" tea right now. Hope that makes your blood brew.
