the cellist*

The musician wraps her fragile frame
around her cumbersome cello.
Her soul envelopes this instrument
that nourishes her sorrow

She bows her head.
And her tears stain the struggle
she folds between her body.

She circles her bow
And slowly, slowly draws forth a
Clean breath from this silent-hallow.
A single note breaks the mournful air.

Though the sharp strings break her fingers,
She plays a furious, determined tune
Driving, inspiring.
This burden no longer crushes the woman beneath.
It is a part of her.

She sings her story to the world,
smiling.
